His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Mohammad Al-Dhoyani head of the National Records and Archives Authority and His Excellency Gonzalo De Bentiu Sykads, Kingdom of Spain Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs signed an agreement on archives and documents at the authority headquarter. This agreement will allow both authorities to exchange experiences and training workshops on archive and documents management. Also, the Omani technicians and experts can get an overview on the Spanish experiences in managing archive and document files electronically. The agreement also consists of a mutual cooperation between both bodies to exchange training workshops on files managements and to organize seminars to allow researchers and experts to take advantage of the Spanish latest approaches in documents and archives management. This agreement will enables both staffs to study the historical relations between the two countries. His Excellency stressed the importance the authority gives to the cultural and historical cooperation between various Spanish and Omani institutions in the world of documents and archives management. After signing the agreement, a presentation was introduced on the Sultanate experiences in documents management system and the authority electronic approach in the field of archives and documents. Then, guests went through the different technical and specialized sections of the authority and precisely the follow up section to get an overall idea about the activities of its staff. The convoy also visited the workshops and technical and specialized laboratories of the authority where they got detailed explanation on the Stages of restoration and sterilization of documents. The convoy went also to the General Directorate for Research and were briefed on the most important works and activities of the Directorate. Guests were given details on the preparation of the documentary exhibitions and how to sort out the documents for the display and the equipments they to photocopy documents. The guests had an overall idea on conferences and seminars organized at local and international levels as well as the Oral Historic Project through which the authority aims at preserving and documenting the Omani oral history which is part of the Omani national memory. The importance of this project lies in preserving the scientific, cultural, social, political, economic, intellectual, inventory of the Omani national memory.
