
The Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania signed this morning a memorandum of understanding in the field of historical documentation and records and archives management. It was signed by His Excellency Dr. Hamad Mohammed Al-Dhawyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority, from Omani side and His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al-Mukhtar, Director of Mauritanian National Records, from the Mauritanian side during the official visit of the Mauritanian delegation to the Sultanate headed by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ishaq Saad Sayed Al-Amin, Assistant Secretary-General of the Mauritanian government for several days. This memorandum was signed as culmination of the outstanding relation between the two countries based on mutual interests.
Al-Dhawyani stated that the Mauritanian delegation’s visit comes within the framework of the Mauritanian government’s request to view and benefit from the Omani experience in the field of archives and building a records management system in all government agencies. He added that signing of such memorandum of understanding would promote theoretical and practical competence of workers in the archives field through the training programs.
For his part, His Excellency Assistant Secretary-General of the Mauritanian Government praised signing this memorandum and emphasized the great role of the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in commercial history and the history of spread of Islam.
