
“Sixth International Conference” in Kuwait Kicks off
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, and in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Ali Jarrah Sabah Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs and H.E. Dr. Hamad Al-Dhowyani, Chairman of NRAA, the Sixth International Conference “Oman’s relations with the Indian Ocean and the Gulf Countries from the 17th to 19th Century” and the accompanying records exhibition were opened at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, Kuwait. The event is organized by the NRAA in cooperation with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature.
The conference is held by the blessing of H.M. Sultan Qaboos bin Said and will be held from December 11 to 13, while the re will continue to receive visitors until December 16. The three-day international conference is attended by a group of professors, researchers and intellectuals representing 15 different countries, discussing 45 papers across five main themes.
The ceremony began with the opening speech of H.E. Sheikh Ali Jarrah Sabah Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs in which he forwarded the appreciation of H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, to the efforts exerted in organizing this cultural specialized event. He emphasized the importance of the strategic location of Gulf countries in building a basic ground to understand political and historical relations between them and to shape a new perspective of the importance of this area in the world based on its cultural heritage and economic power among other civilizations. He added that the fostering national identity be realized only by giving a historical and real picture of the heritage.
H.E. chairman of NRAA said in his speech that preserving nation’s heritage contributes in encouraging historical research among the new generations and protecting them from looking down to their heritage.
