The first volume of the research series explores Omani-Ottoman political military and economic relations. The second volume, however, deal with the historical ties between the Sultanate and East Africa in Al Busaidi era (1882-1938): Waqf and Wasay (Wills) in Zanzibar as a model. The third volume of this series touches on the Omani-East African historical relations during the period from1939 to 1956. The forth volume comes under title Islamic Civilization and Culture and the Omani Role in Historical Political Economic and Social Aspects in the East African Region. The fifth volume focuses on the Omani role in the development of agriculture in Zanzibar and the political, economic and cultural outcomes. The six and seventh volumes explore and document the life and character of the well-known Omani navigator Ahmed bin Majed. The eighth and final volume illustrates the Islamic and Omani role in linguistic and literary interaction in East African and the Great lakes region. Worth noted this is the first part of this volume in a hope to publish the second part in future.
Research Promotion
A part of NRAA’s continuous efforts in encouraging research and studies which, in turn, highlight the cultural and educational values of archives, it assigns a specialist team to be present at its stall in Muscat Book Fair to explain to the visitors the rules and procedures related to viewing such archival holdings at NRAA. Now, it becomes possible to a researcher who is interested in accessing to the permissible archival items to visit NRAA’s website www.nraa.gov.om, and complete all needed formalities and place his order, indicating the time at his convenience. Then he can view the requested archival items at NRAA’s reading hall. If a researcher pays a visit to NRAA’s headquarter, he will be given a user card after completing certain registration steps. He/she can also benefit from other services in the hall such as the library .
