17 March، 2016Al-Dhawyani Opens the training Program “Records and Archives: Theory, Practice, Policy and Governance”
H.E. Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Dhawyani opened this morning the training Program “Records and Archives Managment: Theory, Practice, Policy and Governance” organized City Season Hotel from 28th February to 3rd March by NRAA in cooperation with IIAS in Italy and in association with AMEU ECM in Slovenia. This program is participated by a number of officials and employees from brotherly countries and from security, military and government bodies along with NRAA’s staff. H.E started his speech with welcoming lecturers and participants and stating the importance of building human resources through various programs in cooperation with international archives. He also highlighted experiences of developed countries to improve level of staff involved in archives field. Then, Prof. Peter Pavel Klasnic, Director General of the IIAS, introduced the IIAS and the importance of the program in developing the work in records and archives management and archival science.
This training program was organized in the framework of mutual cooperation between NRAA and International Institute for Archival Science in Italy. NRAA trusts that such programs are very important and effective to develop knowledge and skills. NRAA cooperate with IIAS for the second consecutive year after the success of the recent program “New Aspects of archives material management during its existing”.
Themes
The training course covers three themes. First theme is “Theory” and types of information Created, It’s Value, reason of keeping them, information security theory, keeping information. It also discusses dealing with maps, images, AV, magazines and newspaper along with series class, sort, migration, disposition and repository.
The second theme is “Policy and Governance” through governance structures for archival organization, procedures, laws and regulations, projects, processes and risk management, using software for governance and enforcing policies, backups, data, information, documents, records and knowledge.
Finally, the third theme is “Practice” through displaying various approaches to building classifications and file plans, case management, methods of digital preservation, management of health and judicial records and Scopearchiv.
Membership
NRAA became a member in IIAS last year during the meeting of IIAS’s Board of Directors in October 2014. The membership reflects NRAA’s belief of working according to a unified system and to international standards. It also allows NRAA’s employees to benefit from other members’ experiences. In this regard, NRAA will participate with a paper in IIAS next meeting this year
Lecturers
This training course will be delivered by European professors like Asist. Prof. Dr. Peter Pavel Klasnic, Director General of the IIAS, M.Phil. Zdenka SEMLIČ RAJH and others.
