A MOU Signed between The Sultanate of Oman & the Kingdom of Morocco In Historical Documentation and Records and Archives Management Fields
Today, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Morocco signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of historical documentation and management of records and archives, at the Authority building, during the official visit of the Moroccan delegate to the Sultanate of Oman headed by Her Excellency Dr. Bahija Simo, Director General of Moroccan Royal Archives. The MOU included a set of cooperation articles, the most important of which are: encouraging cooperation in the field of copying historical records, printing and exchanging manuscripts and books, preserving and maintaining records with available technologies and cooperating in the field of publishing documentary, cultural, literary and historical publications and organizing various activities. In addition, the MOU included promoting participation in organizing conferences, exhibitions and workshops in the field of records and archive management, promoting the exchange of experiences, training workshops and conducting scientific researches. The MOU was signed by His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Dhawyani, Chairman of the NRAA, from the Omani side and by Dr. Bahija Simo, Director-General of Moroccan Royal Archives from the Moroccan side.
Regarding the signing of the memorandum of understanding, H.E Dr. Al-Dhawyani, Chairman of the NRAA, said that the visit of the brotherly Moroccan delegate comes within the framework of reviewing the Omani experience in the field of documentation and building records management system in government agencies in the Sultanate of Oman along with Wosool EDRMS. He added that this MOU should enhance the existing cooperation relations between the two countries, establish the foundations for cooperation in the cultural and historical fields and complete NRAA’s mission of obtaining copies of records relating to the Sultanate of Oman and its relations with other countries.
On the other hand, H.E Dr. Bahija Simo, Director-General of Moroccan Royal Archives, said that signing of the MOU with the Sultanate of Oman is based on the common historical and civilizational denominators between the two countries. It is also based on the royal desire of His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, to create Cooperation environment between the brotherly Arab countries. In addition, Her Excellency praised the capabilities of the National Records and Archives Authority and its role in preserving the cultural heritage of Oman, by national cadres equipped with experience and knowledge. Finally, Dr. Bahija expressed her great hope that this memorandum would achieve its desired goals, especially in cooperation in the field of historical documentation, management of records and archives, cooperation in the field of conferences and exhibitions, and promoting the exchange of experiences and training workshops.
