National Records and Archives Authority released the second part of the book “Features of Nizwa History and Civilization” as part of the second volume of the Historical and Cultural Series of Omani Governorates and Cities. This book is important because it displays the vital role of Nizwa played in the communication with world, explains the historical status Nizwa enjoyed, introduces the social and economic aspects of the city and highlights Nizwa’s cultural and intellectual contributions. The book of 443 pages consists of 17 research papers in three themes; historical theme, geographical theme, economic and social theme and cultural theme.
It is worth noting that NRAA signed an agreement with Luban Publishing House to be responsible of distributing the Authority’s publications inside and outside the Sultanate through local and international sales outlets or exhibitions in which the house participates. Based on the agreement, Luban Publishing House is selling the 36 publications of NRAA in its library at Ghala Industrial Area.
At the introduction, Al-Dhawyani, Chairman of NRAA, explains that this book is a collection of researches in various fields released to highlight cultural and historical achievements of Omanis though ages. While Dr. Ahlam, Assistant Director of Researches and Studies at NRAA, said that this book is a completion of the first part that discussed the geographical, historical, economic and social aspects of Nizwa. She added that the second volume was allocated to display mainly the cultural role of Nizwa.
