New Delhi, India – The “Omani-Indian Relations” Records Exhibition was officially kicked off in New Delhi, organized by the National Records and Archives Authority of Oman (NRAA) in collaboration with the National Archives of India. The three-day exhibition aims to highlight the deep historical and diplomatic ties between Oman and India, showcasing a collection of records, photographs, and maps that celebrate various historical periods.

The exhibition presents a wealth of archival material that reflects the rich civilizational and cultural heritage shared by the two countries across different eras. It sheds light on the enduring Omani-Indian presence and influence, emphasizing the deep-rooted connections that continue to shape bilateral relations today.

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Dhawyani, Chairman of the NRAA, along with H.E. Issa bin Saleh Al-Sheibani, Oman’s Ambassador to India, and a distinguished gathering of Arab and foreign diplomats, government officials, intellectuals, and academics from both countries.

Mr. Arun Singhal, IAS, Director General of the National Archives of India, who presided over the event, emphasized the strong historical and cultural ties between Oman and India, highlighting their 5,000-year-long relations through trade, cultural exchange, and diplomacy. He noted that the records on display serve as crucial records of Oman and India’s maritime, commercial, and cultural contributions to the region.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Al-Dhawyani stated that Oman and India have witnessed remarkable growth in bilateral relations, forming strategic partnerships based on trust and mutual respect. He emphasized that historical records and correspondence demonstrate the lasting significance of these ties, which continue to shape the social and cultural constituent of both countries.

Ambassador Al-Sheibani also underscored the importance of cooperation between the NRAA and the National Archives of India, facilitated by the Omani Embassy in New Delhi. He highlighted that the exhibition reflects the growing cultural collaboration between Oman and India, reflected in academic exchanges, joint exhibitions, and tourism initiatives.

As Oman and India continue to strengthen their cooperation through strategic agreements and joint development initiatives, this exhibition stands as a symbol of their enduring friendship and commitment to preserving historical memory.
