Open Health Day for Employees of National Records and Archives Authority
2 December، 2024The National Records and Archives Authority, in collaboration with the Office of Wali of Rakhyut, organized an awareness session highlighting the Authority’s role in preserving and maintaining records to support scientific and intellectual research. This initiative is part of the NRAA’s program during its team visit to Dhofar Governorate, which continues until December 13, aiming to document and safeguard Oman’s national memory.
The NRAA team will register various private records owned by citizens, including personal correspondence, legal deeds, general letters, manuscripts, photographs, maps, wills, and other important records. These records will be added to Oman’s archival and historical repository to enrich its national heritage.
The session included presentations explaining the Authority’s role in records preservation and the National Records and Archives Law (Royal Decree No. 60/2007), which dedicates a special chapter to private records of public interest due to their importance to the national memory.
The event was attended by Sheikh Ghosn bin Zahir Al-Abri, Wali of Rakhyut, along with a number of sheikhs, dignitaries, and individuals interested in the archival sector.
