An Official Discussion Session to Promote the Existing Cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and Turkey in Records and archives field

This morning, an Omani-Turkish discussions session was held at the National Records and Archives Authority in the field of records, archives, historical studies and cultural aspects. The session was attended by Dr. Al-Dhawyani, Chairman of the NRAA, from the Omani side and by Dr. Ugur Unal, Head of State Archives at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey from the Turkish side. It was also held in the presence of Aisha Suzan Osalwar, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey accredited to the Sultanate.
The session focused on discussing areas of cooperation in the fields of records, archives and historical studies between the two countries and ways of promoting them in order to serve common interests. It also explores the ways of strengthening bilateral coordination in the field of historical, civilizational, intellectual and scientific conferences and records exhibitions. The two sides reviewed the existing efforts between the two sides in the joint project for the investigation of records related to the relations between the two countries. In this regard, both sides agreed to assign researchers from Turkey to search for Omani records in the state archives of Turkey. During the discussions, the two sides stressed the importance of enhancing and exchanging experiences, staff technical trainings, organizing joint events, preparing publications in different fields and setting joint related programs.
The Turkish delegate concluded the visit at NRAA with a tour in some of the specialized and technical divisions of the authority. The tour included a presentation that highlights the work of the NRAA and its most important objectives and specializations. It also introduced the delegate with the EDRMS project and its application.
