30 January، 2016On the sidelines of the meetings, the Sultanate and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) represented in the mechanism of political consultations between the two countries, as well as a MoU between the Omani Diplomatic Institute and the Algerian Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations, the executive program in the field of youth and sport for 2015-2016, fishing field, culture and archives field, water resources and wastewater field, in addition to a MoU between the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the Sultanate and the Algerian Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications, as well as the internal system of the Omani-Algerian Joint Marine Committee in the field of marine transport, a MoU between the Ministry of Social Development in the Sultanate and the Algerian Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs.
Ramtane Lamamra, Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement to ONA that his visit to the Sultanate comes within the framework of the ministerial meeting of the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee that yielded satisfactory outcomes as per the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
He added that the meeting reviewed the major points listed on the agenda of the international relations including terrorism and climate change.
On the agreements that were signed today, the Algerian guest pointed out that the agreements include exchanging experience in the field of rehabilitating diplomats and work at the diplomatic institutes, as well as marine transport, agriculture and fishing.
He congratulated the Sultanate’s Government under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said on the 45thGlorious National Day.
Sheikh Yahya bin Abdullah al-Araimi, Head of Economic Affairs at the Foreign Ministry said in a statement to ONA that the agreements signed today include MoUs and executive programs covering several bilateral relations between the Sultanate and Algeria. He added that a mechanism was set for political consultations and cooperation between the diplomatic institutes in the two countries and cooperation in areas of agriculture, fisheries, water resources and archives.
He affirmed that signing the agreements affirms the strong bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and in continuation of developing the economic relations. He explained that the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee maintains coordination to implement direct economic projects.
On signing a MoU in the archives field between the Sultanate and Algeria, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Dhoyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) said in a statement to ONA that the MoU covers cooperation in the field of exchanging expertise in documents area between the two countries, as well as the documents available in Algeria. He added that the MoU also covers the Algerian relations, cadres training and organizing activities, programs, document exhibitions and conferences that assist in developing the historic relations binding the two countries.
Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed al-Kiyoumi, Director General of Marine Affairs at the Ministry of Transport and Communications affirmed in a statement to ONA that the agreement on the internal system of the Joint Marine Committee between the Sultanate and Algeria includes marine transport and ports. He added that the agreement aims at enhancing fields of cooperation in marine transport field, increasing areas of coordination among specialists and those concerned with this sector. He explained that the agreement also includes forming a Joint Marine Committee from the respective agencies, such as the Ports Management Committee.
